Community ASL Classes
The SSD offers ASL classes for parents and the community throughout the year. Classes are structured to accommodate all levels of proficiency from beginner to advanced. For more information or to sign up for a class, please email

Level 1: Signing Naturally Units 1-2
Students focus on how to convey basic information about themselves, interact in culturally appropriate ways with others, and develop receptive skills as a foundation for ASL.
Level 2: Signing Naturally Units 3-4
Students learn how to convey information related to situations and. how to denote aspects of time and location.
Level 3: Signing Naturally Units 5-6
Students work on describing immediate and extended family as well as daily routines, and incorporating fingerspelling and numbers in various settings. Students learn the basic structure of storytelling in ASL.
Level 4: Signing Units Naturally Units 7-9
Students enhance their sign vocabulary and grammatical syntax by giving directions, describing others, making requests and more.
Level 5: Signing Naturally Units 9-12
Students practice sign vocabulary related to workplaces, personal qualities, routines and more.
