Summer Program

Check out this video of our students enjoying our 2022 summer program!

The Louisiana School for the Deaf hosts a FREE summer program each year, and we welcome Deaf and hard of hearing students across Louisiana, even if they are not enrolled at LSD, to attend.

The program typically lasts 3-4 weeks and runs Mondays through Thursdays. It is a full day program where students are with us Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM, and on Fridays from
8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Breakfast will be served to all students at 7:30 AM.  Students staying in the dorms will arrive on Sundays. The school is located in Baton Rouge, LA, and students are eligible to stay in the dorms for free if they live beyond a 25 mile radius from the school. The program is subject to COVID restrictions in place at the time of the program and is dependent on funding.

Who can attend: ANY deaf or hard of hearing child in Louisiana between the ages of 3-21. Students above 18 must be enrolled in a K-12 setting (does not need to be the Louisiana School for the Deaf) and not graduate in May of the current school year.

Administrators and teachers: Please share this information with the families you serve, so that they may be able to indicate their interest. When we all support our students' language development, they get to reap the benefits, and we get to see their growth at home and at school!

DEADLINE: Please submit all information for all interested students by April 19th. Spots for the program, lodging, and transportation are ALL first come, first serve and there is limited availability, so apply ASAP! All interested families will be contacted on a rolling basis depending on space. The sooner you apply, the better.
